![]() I began my career with crayons and any surface that was slower than me. I was famous for running out into traffic to pick up a piece of foil and frankly I still keep an eye on the pavement. Making things has always fascinated me, from tiny origami frogs to super 8 animated films, crocheted dolls clothes to taffy and even butter once (ONCE). Growing up in the 70's really gave me that hand made bug! What really captivated me and set fire to my imagination was books. My love of reading began with picture books. I am still a voracious collector and reader of books - and I must say the cover is what still draws me in. Most of what I discovered in my reading list I found because of the beautiful work on the covers! I had a favorite list of Illustrators by the time I was in high school - Darrell K. Sweet, the Brothers Hidlebrandt, Mercer Meyer, Rowena, Boris Vallejo, Maxfield Parrish, Alphonse Mucha, J.C. Leyendecker, Michael Whelan and Linda K. Powell. There was no question what I would be doing with my life! I studied art in college (BFA from Rochester Institute of Technology plus two associates degrees in Graphic Design and Animation) and in workshops (online, Illuxcon, Illustration Masterclass) and have discovered new depths of passion in painting and image making through the inspiration and generosity of my teachers. The last 20 years have been an exploration in design and illustration, printing technology, and packaging for commercial products from which I learned a great deal about the professional aspects of commercial work. It's been fun learning all the skills and knowledge and how things have changed over the years (and still is) but now I have come full circle to my first love: Illustration. My dream is to create beautiful, fun and enduring work that gives people color and joy in their lives with, of course, a nice dose of silliness sprinkled in! Please feel free to contact me with any comments or questions you may have about my work. Thanks for looking! |
